Activity 2.3 – Biosphere and Interconnections

Chapter four I organized in six groups. Precipitation/ hydrologic cycle then below that is the steps to the cycle. Next, I have atmosphere and below it the four layers. Next, I put climate macro and microclimate below it. Following, I put electromagnetic and the electromagnetic spectrum below it. After that is kinetic with the two kinds of kinetic below it. Thermal and mechanical then the meaning below that. Last I put potential with the four kinds of it. Electrical, nuclear, chemical, and gravitational.

Chapter seven I organized in three categories. Biodiversity was the first one which I broke down into animals, wild species of plants, microorganisms, and utilitarian value. Then below those I just put what those meant and the benefit of them. Next, I put intrinsic value then below it the meaning of it. After I put kingdoms with the five categories. Monera, Protista, fungi, plantae, and Amalia. Then below that just what's in that category. Which is why Amalia has so much below it.

Chapter eight I just organized it into three categories. Biomes being the first with the three main categories for it. Terrestrial, freshwater, and marine with what effects them where they are and what it is all below it. Next, is human dominated ecosystems with that broken down into three categories. Urban-industrial techno ecosystems, rural techno ecosystems, and agroecosystems. With the meaning below each one. Finally, the last category was ecozones.

First off, I want to say sorry for it looking so blurry. I saved it the way I was supposed to and even screenshot the charts. Yet, it still was not clear. However, with my first concept map of chapter four, I broke it down into six main groups. I realized that the page number was different from what it truly was in the book. Which is why my first group was the hydrologic cycle. I wrote down the steps of it and on the side the importance of water. After that, I connected it with the atmosphere following its layers. I wrote down how I remember those layers, for example, the troposphere and the bubble connecting it I put "we live in it." Then I connected climate just because I learned about microclimate and macroclimate. Next, I put the electromagnetic and the spectrum in order. Kinetic was the next one with it connecting to potential. Because kinetic is motion while potential is stored.

Chapter seven has four main categories. Biodiversity is the first one and connected it with utilitarian value, animals, wild species of plants, and microorganisms. I learned what utilitarian value was by breaking it down to what it is in three words. Ecosystems for food, biomaterials, and energy. For microorganisms, I put below bioproducts and then connected them with their importance of it. Like, food, new medicine, and materials. The next category was just intrinsic value than the definition below it. What took the most space was the category kingdoms. As you know kingdoms have five big groups.

In chapter eight I tried to keep it simple by only doing three categories. Biomes, human-dominated ecosystems, and ecozones I connected that one with its definition. Biomes I broke it down into three terrestrial, freshwater, and marine. With terrestrial, I added what affects it the most which are temperature and moisture. The result from that can come with deserts or grasslands. Lastly, with the human dominated I broke it down into three. Urban-industrial techno ecosystems, rural techno ecosystems, and agroecosystems. These are all ways we damage the ecosystem.
